Another Week Gone

As we close out another week that went by way too fast I can't help but reflect. On the week, on the month, on the year. Of course we always do that this time of year; we reminisce about the good times and plan for what to do better in the next year.

Here are a couple of things I plan to do in 2014.

1. A Prayer Journal : I really want to keep praying for people as long as they need it. This means recording in a journal all the prayers I say and keep praying until the answer is clear! There is a lot more to this but, right now, it's all in my head and hard to put into words.

2. Budget : This is one of those things we always say we'll do better at; not eat out as much, save more, and buy only what we need so we can save for fun things (like a vacation)! We always have unexpected expenses though, mostly medical and vehicle, and it's hard to plan for those which makes it hard to set a budget. But, we'll try once again!

3. Devotions and Prayer time with kids : We are receiving a book from Hubby's work that is a kids/family devotional so I hope to keep that up and then find other things to supplement with. I also want to do prayer sticks where at dinner we pull out someone's name (family, friend, or other) that we specifically pray for.

4. Date Nights with Hubby : There are too many times we talk about this and they never happen. We need to focus our relationship this year (not because it's in jeopardy, please don't read that wrong) so we can continue to grow strong in our marriage and glorify God through it.

As I think of more I will post more.

All week I've been planning for P-Man's Class Holiday Party and now this came up today on our local news weather page: A Winter Weather Advisory...YUCK
WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY. HAZARDOUS WEATHER... * FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY MORNING. * AROUND A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE AND LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET ARE EXPECTED. *

My weekend is shaping up to be inside and hopefully cozy curled up with a good book and playing games with the kiddos. Hubby is working since it's the weekend before Christmas and he works food retail...working is kind of a given this weekend. He will be missing our kids Christmas program at church on Sunday but will be with us for 3 days over Christmas!!

What's your weekend looking like?

Thankful Day 13

HUBBY!!!

Today I am celebrating hubby being alive for 32 years!

If you've never met my husband you're kind of missing out! See, he's amazing!

Not only is he firm in his faith and loves our family unconditionally, but he's pretty HOT too!

He works hard and plays hard! He loves and is loved! He's full of surprises and loves to surprise me (even if it is just getting gas in my vehicle because he knows I hate being so close to empty!)

He makes me laugh! I've only seen him cry less than a handful of times! One was because he was laughing so hard he started crying (that was this past Sunday)!

I LOVE this man with all my heart and am so happy that we are together forever! He is a superb Husband and an excellent Father.

Thanks, babe, for all you do, all you are, and all God will form you to be
! So glad we are on this journey together!

Thankful Day(s) 11 & 12

I'm behind...I know. Yesterday was a bad day to leave the children and go write a blog post. They were getting into everything and...it was just crazy!

Thankful Day 11 :: Date Nights

As I mentioned in my previous post Hubby and I attended his Store End of the Year Celebration on Sunday evening. It was fun and I met a lot of new people. It was great to get out together and enjoy just some adult time. Even though Hubby wasn't feeling well and it was technically work for him, we still had a fun time being out of the house together. We had to drive about 30 minutes (this is his commute everyday) so we had time before and after the party just to talk and enjoy each others company.

Going to his work party gives me a chance to see how interactions happen for him everyday. I get to see how his employees and other managers relate to him. This is a rare occasion for me since I don't visit him at work ever! In my opinion he is well liked and well respected at his workplace! I love to know that about Hubby.

Date Nights don't happen often for us because of Hubby's work schedule but they do happen and when they do I am so Thankful for that time.

Thankful Day 12 :: My Mom and Mother-in-Law

Sunday Night, after we got home from the store celebration there was an alarm call for the store so Hubby, even though he didn't feel well, went off to the store to check it out. I was mad, sad, and worried for him. It was 11:30 pm and we had fallen asleep only 45 minutes before. I was worried for his safety, I was mad because there wasn't someone else to take that call, and I was sad because...well, I don't know why.

I called my Mother-in-Law (because right now she's in Colorado and they are two hours behind me!). I cried on the phone, screamed my anger, and cried some more. She listened, she calmed me, and we talked for 30 minutes. I am so thankful she is there for me!

Yesterday was crazy. I was frustrated over a couple different things, mainly the house being a mess. My Mom was able to offer advice, comfort, and love in the way only a Mom can. She has always been there for me and we talk daily. We see each other often and this week she is watching my kids 3 times!! (THANKS MOM {and Dad}!) I have a great relationship with my mom and I love that! I love that I can talk and share with her. I love that we live close and talk often. My mom is very special to me and I can't be thankful enough for all she does for me! Love you Mom!

Thankful Thursday :: My Man!

I am so thankful for my Hubby. For his provision for this family and his faithfulness to carry it out!

Hubby works so hard to make it all work for this family. And then, he comes home and helps with what needs to be done (aka - what Sarah didn't finish for the day) before bed, if he's home by bedtime! Working retail means varying schedules which don't always allow him to be home by the kids bedtime!

This past week has been a struggle for me, in the day to day tasks that deal mainly with the kids. Hubby stepped in last night on a couple different occasions and I was very thankful he was home to deal with it. {I was at the end of my patience}.

Thankful for Hubby and the guidance and provision God gives him for our life!

In what ways are you thankful today?
